My source is the bio section on Brad Carpenter, in the back of Para Imminence. But its also previousily mentioned in Paragenesis too!

They should keep the original spelling! So What do you other Wreaththu Fans Think!  To me its Wreaththu spelling or nothing!  Come Storm Constantine give us a break...don't let them change things like that now!  Next, they'll  try to take away certain very important flowered Parts??? That all we Fans have come to love.

Also my second fear is that they will hire only very tall, flat-chested female super model types on steroids to act the part of Hara! God forbid it will look like a Victoria Secret Fashion Show with traditional feathers everywhere... ah the Dehara help us... the horror of it! This simply wont do at all, I must have my delicious beautiful long haired pretty boys to play Wreaththu, after all they call them "HE"!  He-h all you beautiful male transvestites out there you are also totally welcome to apply...!  Okay, maybe there a few tall tough Ladies actors out there with both the balls and the attitude to carry it off... I'm not really totally prejudice against you, especially, if you can play believable wild uncivilized savages like the Uigenna to the hilt!

Lets hope and pray Wreathtu Fans that if it ever makes to either the big or small screen we wont all be disappointed in the final outcome!

Sincerely, A worried Cal the Gslinger

PS. Also everyone have a great Holiday and a Happy Healthy New Year

Seem to me, he's going for an somewhat alternate reality, rather than the usual canon Wreaththu....yuck thumbs down \/ \/ \/

Seems Mr. Carpenter isn´t going canon, but that´s hardly uncommon. Peter Jackson did follow the books but did a lot of remodelling, too, many a time not for the better, although I´d better not like to inquire which way he killed the Hobbit. Personally I would not want the Wraeththu basic story to be changed too much, and that´s exactly what seems to take place. Well, Carpenter is still writing, let´s hope he doesn´t cause us to have a coronary. As far as I can gather he will not make a film about the storyline of the Wraeththu Chronicles but create a series of the differently spelled race only. I wonder if we´ll come upon a familiar character at all! It would be a shame to see the story completely misrepresented. But I do want to have feathers in it. I remember quite a lot of them in the books, but certainly not on starved lingerie models.

Where were you looking?
Certainly you remember all the featherey wings on those lingerie models, how could you miss them?

As for a non-canon representation of any Hara without Thiede at least being one of them is not Wreaththu! But story abuse and greedy rash capitalization on the author's main idea. I didn't think Ms Constantine would sell out that way to make a few bucks to get her name on the screen!

If it actually makes it to the screen with such a gross misreputation I"ll be both sad and very angry.

My sentiments exactly. I always wondered why no one wanted to make the books into a film. Perfect storyline with lot of drama. And Thiede pulling the strings. As for the feathers, they come on the scene many a time, f.i. when Arahal saves Cal in the third book as "an outlandish vision of silver and waving black feathers". Now why do I bear in mind Miranda Kerr cat-walking minus her breasts, feathers on the back and in the hair, hair dyed silver for the festive season, while Mr.Carpenter dwells among the clientele."Is this one Wraeththu at the least?" "No, that´s one of our models. She is married to an elf!" "Say word?" Mr. Carpenter is still working on how to get elves into the story, because elves do attract a lot of attention, and that´s exactly what he´s up to. The sky´s the limit! I only hope to get this image out of my head or I´ll die laughing before the day is over.

It's not lovely true feathers I'm against. It's who or what is wearing them and whether they can transcend the plot the way it should be done!

Actually if you want to look at that way, Velaxis or Ru's friend and Thiede's watchdog and hegemony's most in demand whore... is sort of a very elf like creature of an ancient race of beings, made hara, that his own private secret agenda?

Pale silver haired Vel, is one of my favorite characters. He is a random out of the box, secretly powerful intriguing character, not above using his body most willingly to get what he wants to know. Both for Thiede and himself. It's never mentioned is if his ears are pointed though. LOL Cal

Its a project that has Storm's endorsement, which is why he was chosen to do the forward of Para-Imminence.

Personally I think Wraeththu is going to be difficult to translate to TV... several of the core aspects are not going to appeal to some sectors of the general public...inevitably there would be pressure to play down the bits that wouldn't sell.

If the show has good acting talent and sticks to as close as it can to source then it has potential

My point is if it can't be done in the true, creative glorious way it was first done by the author. A second rate bastard version shouldn't be attempted at all, for it totally diminishes the original. Then perhaps simple greed has totally replaced love of the regular story in order to make a buck??? I don't know how an author can forsake a well loved child of his or her creative muse to crass, debouched commercialism just for money?

Personally, if they the wanton instigators, of this possible travesty, are somehow able to promote a purer original version on pay premium channels or even the SYFY channel in the US, they'll more likely to get closer to the real story for SYFY has become more sexually liberal in its a later night formats, After all "Lost Girl" and "Battlestar Galactica" are certainly not for super conservatives, old grand moms, and children.

To put is simply for me, if they do away with the wild sexy girlish-boy hara with their dual gender-ed flowered parts and their main, magical hara boss,Thiede the originator of the Wreaththu race, I will become the lost, long gone fan for I can't abide those who sell out.

Sincerely, Cal the Gslinger

That isn't how it works Cal... an author has very limited control of a TV or film project

besides... from the description this is Thiede's early years they are going to depict...that's a blank canvas that gives them room to grow

Yaaaaaaaa, I know, but it doesn't mean I like it! And there is a lot corrupted screen versions of good literature out there. And the author can say "no" to selling away his baby, in the first place

They'd gotta get some hell of a beautiful young actor, hopefully not a girl, to play the angst ridden, alienated, estranged obviously tortured Thiede. Hopefully not any young actor that has anything to do with that awful crappy "Twilight series"!!!

Maybe he follows this site and got the name inspiration from it! XD As an idea based perhaps not just on the main stories as we know them but all the stories and ideas that have grown up around them in spaces like this.

TBH I dont think they could risk just having girls play them, as there bound to be a lot of scantily dressed types or bare chests that they wont get away with showing to a mass audience unless its boys ;D

I reckon Charlize Theron and of course Tilda Swinton could be nicely cast as wraeththu boys, but i doubt they'll be going for names so big. From what i've noticed here and there, Brad is looking a boys for casting/inspiration

Too many nasty uptight people in the world!
And that, Ash baby, is too bad! It make them behave older than they actually are, which makes them afraid to think out of the box or accept change. Being too out-modishly conservative in the real world will eventually kill us off, for without growth and change everything stagnates till it dies off...

Keep the fictional Wreaththu story Pure. And may the real world become more accepting and liberal.

Ah, it would be lovely if a screen version could live up to our (the fans) glorious visions of the indescribably beautiful Wraeththu. LOL! When I first heard of this, I was excited, then as I thought about it, my fear was that any portrayal of them would be lame. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's good that they make a screen adaptation in the first place.
Even if it will be different from the novels ... even if the fans won't like it ... it will call attention to the novels at least ... and that's a good thing.

I know that we had a lot of problems with Livejournal these last days, the service running slow or not at all...but seriously, eating up my comment? So, next try! What I wanted to say: Of course it´s good if we get a screen adaptation of Wraeththu´s early days! That´s entering new territory, because what exactly do we know about this period? Let´s see: We have two short stories by Storm Constantine, some hints in the books, and fan fiction, in book-form even. That´s one big playground for Mr. Carpenter. Maybe it would be wise to carry over a few well known characters to make readers more comfortable. I still wonder why a man would do the filming. All males I recommended the book were wary of it. Must be the pearl-bearing-for-all thing that frightened them.

For me personally I was always interested dual gender beings they fascinate me. And at times I wish I could be both and LoL, while it opens you up to more options for dating/bonding. Plus letting your male persona out, so to speak, allowing you to be more sexually aggressive, while the "good" women's way, at least in the near past, was to hang back and wait to be asked by the man. But this is not so prevalent today for in reality independent women are a lot more aggressive, thus more advanced socially.

Mentally, insecure Men are still very much more behind the times. And socially less modernized than women. Personally I think, most men are more scared of being call feminine than they are of becoming pregnant or ergo pearl-bearing. That Old line about men being unable to deal with the pain of pregnancy and it was good thing it was women role for otherwise the population of the world would still be back in the stone age...is bull crap! Working Man experience pain all the time, and sometimes it even might be worse than actual pregnancy . Science says men are quite physically able to carry a child to term.

No, I think personally, overly testosterone infused hetero men are more scared out of their shorts, afraid of being called or seen as a girlish sissy boy, effeminate, and sadly just plain gay. Thus there are all those nasty gay bully bashers out there that do violence on those guys who aren't afraid to let out their inner women and live openly gay. I blame it on that XY chromosome thingy for all men have a hidden women inside them. Perhaps that's why they behave so confused and unstable at time. Women are XX totally female, yet they're too known take on a more masculine male roles at times too... so it's "really a crazy mixed world" to quote old song."Cherry Cola!" by the KINKs

Forgive me if I insulted anybody its not my intention. Just expressing my long pent ups thoughts. All are welcome to tell me I'm full of it, if U Like!

Are we kidding about this? I've read the first three books fair and square, I know for a fact that a normal human tv viewer is not going to watch a show loaded with homosexual hermaphrodites that think themselves so much better than mankind. It took 600 pages for anyone to kiss a girl, and no one enjoyed the encounter! What straight American girl will watch this show with relish when they realize this series does nothing but make a mockery out of women? They're distrustful, warmongering sluts like the rest of us. Bottom line, you'd have to be sick in the head to want to watch sub human gays rule the planet.

Are you really such hater?
Dear Are you really such a Hater???

Or are U just Kidding? Why did U read all 3 books, if you decided u didn't liked what U were reading? Least you didn't know a hermaphrodite is both male and female at the same time, and as often as not they "the boys" or hara gave into their female sides, most frequently and pleasurably. Yeah! Wraeththu aren't perfect, but human's aren't either... so bite me!

As for reality, most people in power male or female think their better than the rest of mankind, so what's the friggin difference? Sub-human warmongers rule the world NOW, and greedily enjoy making a profit on the death of others around the world. Just watch the News!

Just because one is gay doesn't make them
"Sub-human", but certainly those who lack gentle compassion for their fellow humans, comes closer
to that repulsive state. So darling I'm very sorry for U!

So I'm sick in the head... deal with it, but babe, I'm not a vile hater!
